Assessment at Mitchell: MELO Assessment

Program Level Learning Outcomes; Mitchell Essential Learning Outcomes; College Reports; Whitepapers; Rubrics; Workshop Materials. A growing repository for all things related to learning outcomes assessment at Mitchell. Maintained by IR&P.

Thank you for contributing to the assessment of our students' attainment of the Mitchell Essential Learning Outcomes (MELO)!

All faculty at Mitchell are required to submit MELO scores for 1 section of courses during the academic year (fall or spring term). To complete this requirement, faculty should review the MELO Rubric User Guide (below) to learn about each of the six MELOs. Faculty then should identify an assignment from a course that could be assessed using one of the MELO Rubrics.

When you are ready to assess your students' work for MELO, please follow these 3 steps:

1. Review the MELO Rubric User Guide (via link below) and select an assignment.

2. Complete the MELO Selection Form (via survey link below). The information you will need to provide are the assignment instructions and information about which MELO you will be measuring. If you cannot cut and paste the assignment instructions into the survey, you can email it to Adam Atwell(aatwell@mitchellcc.edu).

3. Submit a scored rubric for each student in one section of your courses (via survey link below). Simply open the web page, enter your data, and click submit. After you hit submit, the survey form will reopen so that you can assess your next piece of student work. We would like to collect at least 20 students per section, but you might have over or less than that number.  If your section did not have 20 students and you can submit for multiple sections (i.e., you have the same assignment that can be used across 2 sections), then please do so. If your section has more than 20 students in it, then you can randomly select 20 from that section to assess.
