Google Scholar is a good resource. However, a plain Google Search leads you to mostly sites that are trying to influence your opinion in some way (usually so that someone may profit).
Anyone can have his or her own website. The internet has no oversight, no editors, no publishing standards, no peer review. A lot of misinformation and outright lies are out there!
Some instructors will only accept certain websites, and some will not accept any websites as reliable sources. Always check with your instructor to determine the number and types of sources permitted in each of your courses.
One way to to help you evaluate your website is to determine the type of website you have found. Look at the URL. What does it say?
.com = commercial site
.edu = educational site
.gov = U.S. government site
.org = non-profit organization site (usually, but not always)
.mil = U.S. military sites and agencies
.net = networks/Internet Service Providers
You can't trust everything you read online, but (if your instructor allows online sources) these librarian-approved websites are great places to start when you're looking for reliable scientific resources.
Wondering whether that article you found is "good enough" to use for your assignment? Use the CRAAP Test to check the currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose of the article before trusting it for scholarly research.
