What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service that allows students, faculty, and staff to borrow physical and electronic resources from other North Carolina community college libraries for free.

When searching the catalog, select "NCCCE" from the Library menu to search the full catalog of all participating list of institutions.

Requesting a Physical Item

If there is a book, DVD, or other physical media item you wish to borrow from a Mitchell Community College Library or other NC community college library, simply place a hold for the item and it will be delivered to your preferred pickup location. Requesting an Electronic Resource

Interlibrary loan is not limited to only physical items. If you cannot access the full-text version of an article or journal from one of our databases (whether it's unavailable or you have hit a paywall), we can reach out to our community partners and possibly gain access to a copy.

To request full-text of an online resource, email library@mitchellcc.edu and provide as much information, as possible, about the requested resource (title, author, journal, publication date, etc.). If applicable, share the link and/or attach a screenshot. From there, a librarian will reach out to our partners and report back within 48 hours.
