OER Policy

"Openly licensed educational resources can increase equity by providing all students, regardless of zip code, access to high quality learning materials that have the most up-to-date and relevant content." -- Secretary John King

Guidelines

The term "Open Education Resources" (OER) was first coined at a UNESCO forum on Open Courseware in Higher Education in 2002. This forum is often referred to as the First UNESCO Forum on OER. Since then, UNESCO provides guidance and recommendations on OER.
