Chicago style is a widely used citation format, particularly in the humanities (history, literature, the arts, etc.). This style has two systems--Notes and Bibliography and Author-Date--which both include a reference list at the end. The Chicago Manual of Style is the official source for Chicago Style. Online Writing Labs (OWLs) from other organizations and academic institutions provide guides that outline general guidelines and provide examples for following the Chicago style as written in the official manual.
